Project Overview

I designed a smart ecosystem that does what every pet owner dreams of: translates your pet’s thoughts and monitors their health in real-time. From “I’m hungry” to “My heart rate is a bit high,” this project bridges the gap between animal instincts and human understanding through a branded app and a smart collar.

The Cool Tech

What's in the collar?

This isn’t just a stylish accessory. The smart collar is packed with sensors that track:

  • Body Temperature: Catching a fever before it becomes a problem.

  • Heart Rate: Keeping an eye on their fitness and stress levels.
  • Behavioral Patterns: Translating movements and sounds into actual insights.

The Challenge

The “Language Barrier.” Pets have a lot to say, but humans aren’t always great at listening. This gap causes stress for owners and, more importantly, can lead to missed health cues. I wanted to design a solution that felt less like a medical device and more like a supportive best friend.

User Personas

Name: Noa

Age: 25

Family Status: Single

Background: Lives in Tel Aviv in a shared apartment, a graphic design student, works in high-tech in a student position, and raises a Golden Retriever.

Needs: Wants to understand if her dog is hungry, tired, or in distress, especially while she is at school or work.

Motivation: Deepening the emotional connection with the dog and reducing the guilt she feels when she is away.

Fear: That the application will not be accurate and will provide shallow/generic answers.

Name: Yossi

Age: 36

Background: Manager of an animal rescue shelter in Northern Israel, caring for dozens of cats and dogs daily.

Needs: To quickly identify which animals are in distress and which are calm, in order to streamline treatment and adoption processes.

Motivation: To improve the overall welfare of the animals and find them suitable forever homes faster.

Pain Points: High maintenance costs and the difficulty of managing a large number of animals simultaneously.

The Strategy

I realized most pet apps are either too “medical” (boring) or too “game-like” (useless). I wanted to hit that sweet spot: an app that feels like a lifestyle brand but works like a pro medical tool.

The Mission: Turning complex biological data into simple, “snackable” notifications.

The Users: Built for everyone from the worried first-time puppy owner to busy shelter managers who need a dashboard for all their residents.

Branding

The PetPulse brand identity was created to bridge the gap between advanced technology and the emotional bond between pets and their owners. The goal was to move away from a cold, clinical aesthetic and instead build a lifestyle brand that feels warm, reliable, and approachable.

The Logo

The visual identity is centered around a clever combination of the letter ‘P’ and a minimalist dog face. This symbol serves as an immediate visual shorthand for the brand’s mission: putting pets at the heart of technology.

Color Palette

The palette uses “Trustworthy Teal” to communicate health and safety, balanced by a vibrant “Energy Orange” that reflects the vitality and playful spirit of animals.
